Primary school

Thank you for taking an interest in your child’s programme of study in the Primary School at BOS. We recognize that a positive partnership with our parent community is a key element to the success of our programmes, and believe that we are in this journey together with a common goal: to provide an optimum educational experience for our children.

At BOS we recognize that each student will experience each year of study for only one year of their life, and that it is indeed, precious, and has a profound impact on their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. We value the work that we do and continually ask ourselves, “What can we do better?”

The BOS Primary Curriculum Structure

BOS offers a curriculum which complies with both national and international curriculum standards. Registered as a Centre for Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and fully-licensed with the Azerbaijan Ministry of Education, BOS offers both CIE programmes and the Azerbaijani state programme, which includes the Azerbaijani language, Azerbaijani Literature Studies. International students at BOS may elect also to take these courses or elect to take an enrichment programme.

At BOS the curriculum is built on the following essential elements – knowledge, concepts, skills, attitudes, and action. These elements are addressed through a balanced curriculum aimed at meeting the academic, social, emotional, cultural, and physical needs of our students.

Our school is a community of collaborators who care – all working towards continual improvement of our programme, seeking the most effective ways to fulfil our mission and vision for our students.

Grades one and two (International Primary Curriculum IPC)

As a bridge from Early Years and to support students’ learning and emotional and social development, grades one and two at BOS follow the international Primary curriculum (IPC), taught by one teacher with specialists in PE, Music and Art.

Grades 3-5 (Cambridge Primary Programme)

From grades 3-5 the English and Humanities subjects (English, History, Geography) are taught by one teacher with the other subjects being taught by specialists (Science, Math, Languages).
